At around 9:00 a.m. on June 17, the vessel “Beigang Canal 002” set off on its trial voyage on the Yujiang River waterway in Guigang with a long blast of its whistle. As the first demonstration vessel built for Class A navigation area of the Pinglu Canal, it successfully completed all trial-navigation tests in Guigang that day. This milestone marks the shift of smart vessels for the Pinglu Canal from the construction phase to operational application, laying a solid vessel-type guarantee for the full navigation of the Pinglu Canal and the synchronous commissioning of demonstration vessels this September.
The “Beigang Canal 002” vessel was developed, designed, and constructed under the overall coordination of the Beibu Gulf Port Group. It is a 5,000-ton-class green and intelligent demonstration cargo ship designed for waters equivalent to a Class A navigation area of the Pinglu Canal. With an overall length of 89.92 meters, a beam of 15.75 meters and a molded depth of 6.05 meters, it is positioned as an inland freight vessel for the water transport route covering the main Xijiang River, Pinglu Canal and the river-sea junction waters of Qinzhou Bay. It is specially adapted to the unique navigation conditions of Class A navigable zones at the Qinzhou Bay river-sea intersection.
